About

Hello, I am an educational technologist and instructional designer. I like using learning analytics to understand how humans interact with computers, especially in immersive environments and with artificial intelligence. Most of my time is spent designing technologies and integrating them into instructional interventions to research influences on human factors such as cognition, memory, and perception. My goal in research is to understand how educational technologies can be optimized successfully and equitably.

Prior to receiving a PhD in Instructional Systems and Learning Technologies from Florida State University, I worked internationally as a language educator in several countries. That experience helped me embody culturally sustaining educational practices. I have worked closely with students and colleagues from a diversity of ethnicities, religions, socioeconomic statuses, ages, and a plurality of other distinctions that have enriched my life and shaped my teaching philosophy.

When I am not working I enjoy creative outlets, reading, exercising, and spending time with my family. Some personal achievements I am proud of include finishing a full marathon (a slow 4:17) and climbing Kilimanjaro. Below are a handful of my artworks from years past.
